Biography

Mackenzie "Mack" Schaffer was born and raised in Houston, Texas.  He attended college at the University of Texas in Austin. Thereafter, he obtained his law degree from South Texas College of Law and graduated with honors.  While there, he participated in legendary Dean Treece's advocacy program through moot court where he was recognized as a best brief writer.  Throughout college and law school, Mack clerked for many criminal defense attorneys, including his uncles Kent and Randy Schaffer, Nicole DeBorde, David Bires, Gerry Morris, and the late Bill White.  He learned from these veteran defense attorneys that the best defense is a good offense.  Upon obtaining his law license, Mack has been practicing criminal, appellate, and post-conviction law.  He did not take a job with the district attorney's office because he is passionate about upholding the core tenets of the United States and Texas Constitution.  Nothing upsets him more than when the State attempts to whittle away what little rights we, as citizens, have left.

Mack is licensed to practice in state courts in Texas, federal courts in the Southern District of Texas, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
